Do
You Believe? Another World Is Possible World Social Forum, Mumbai
(Bombay), India
16:00 min.
This film examines from a cultural perspective different aspects
and meanings of knowledge. It gives a feeling of the sounds and
sites of the first World Social Forum outside of Brazil, in Mumbai,
India. This conference had 100,000 delegates from all over the world
as a counterweight to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
It is a positive and optimistic film that focuses on differentiating
between intellectualized, de-intellectualized, and spiritual knowledge
and gives a feeling of cultural interaction between East and West,
North and South. Interviews with an Indian educator, an Indian lawyer,
an Indian professor, a Catholic Indian nun, a Tibetan nun from Katmandu,
a Harvard University professor, an Irish activist, and a Portuguese
social worker, with overlays of photos and videos of India leave
the viewer wanting more.

Film posted in final format!
This Windows Media format is now in final format. I may end
up doing subtitles in English, as some people have difficulties
with accents. I will try to get other streaming formats up shortly.
January 12, 2005
I have added a closing statement and
credits describing the people speaking in the documentary and
tweaked a few small things. These are not in the online version.
Hopefully, in the next week I will be able to add these revisions.
The other good news is that Harvard University will
apparently be screening this film in it's Bridge Builders
Conference next month.
January 3, 2005
Almost one year later and a working draft is available now online
for viewing to the right.
Currently, AWIP.TV is in post-production stages of a documentary
on the World Social Forum, 2004 which place in Mumbai, India from
January 16 to 21, 2004.
We will be making a documentary with a message that "Another
World Is Possible" by documenting The World Social Forum, India.
We will be onsite interviewing some great movers and shakers from
the social, economic, political educational, medical, technological,
and cultural worlds.
It will be a positive educational video that is not just preaching
to the choir about what has been happening from a "leftist"
perspective, but instead show positive actions by people involved
in the social movement internationally, regardless of the political
background of the participants
The primary market will be educational video/dvd, television and
film festivals.
